Great Gillett before wickets for skipper Reed and Percival in defeat to Woodbury & Newton St Cyres

The B&K Third XI went down at home to Woodbury & Newton St Cyres 2nd XI, but not without a great fight before succumbing to a loss by a margin of 91 runs.

Highlights on an afternoon of runs – and lots of them – 571 in 40 overs for the loss of 13 wickets – at Rectory Park, Kentisbeare were a wonderful 13-boundary 70-ball 81 from opener Chris Gillett together with knocks of 44 from George Holding and 40 from skipper Liam Reed together with a three wicket haul from Oliver Percival and a brace of wickets form skipper Reed.

Woodbury & Newton St Cyres closed their 40 overs on a big score of 326-6 – Amongst the carnage was a fine return of 1-18 from the eight overs sent down by Rory Dennis who also had an excellent economy of 2.25! The afore mentioned three wickets for Oliver Percival were part of his return of 3-64 from seven whilst skipper Liam Reed’s return was 2-58 from eight.

In the run chase there was that terrific effort from Chris Gillett together with those support knocks from Holding and skipper Reed while Oliver Percival scored 23 as our side closed on 235-7.
