Bradninch & Kentisbeare 1st XI sit a dozen points clear at the top of the table with just four games and 80 points to play for after a terrific win at Paignton where, after being put in, B&K posted a score of 240-9 before bowling the home side out for just 129 in 27 overs and two balls to win by a margin of 111 runs.

The individual ‘stars of the show’ were – first with the bat; Mitchell Pugh with a 115 ball ten boundary 69 from the openers berth and a couple of terrific support knocks – one of 47 from 35 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes, from Jon Triner and a trademark 31-ball, five boundary (one six and five fours) 36 from Ankit Badwal.

Then, the home side attempted a run chase there were splendid spells of 2-18 from eight overs sent down by Madawa Warnapura (Bandu) – who was given the new ball by skipper Eliot Acton and an equally impressive 3-42 from first change Mitch Pugh who sent down eight overs before an outstanding spell from Josh Farley who sent down five overs and two balls for another ‘fivefer’ – this one at a cost of thirty runs.

With Sandford – who were the Premier Division table-toppers at the start of the day being beaten by Bovey Tracey it means that the leadership changes hands again and B&K head into next Saturday (August 10) and the meeting at Kensham Park with Sandford, holding a 12-point lead.

With the day also being designated as ‘Sponsors Day’ it promises to be quite a match!
