Bradninch & Kentisbeare 3rd XI battled well in what was ultimately a six wicket defeat the hands of Tolchards Devon League G Division East promotion favourites Cranbrook & Devon Medics in a weather-hit fixture played at Rectory Park, Kentisbeare.
After being out in, B&K closed what was to be a 23 overs-per-side contest on 106-7.
Four batters reached double figures with the biggest of the contributions with the willow being the 44-ball 18 from Oliver Percival (two fours) while the others to reach double figures were young Bobb Marsh (17 from 14 – hitting three fours), Neil Farley (15 from 15 with a six and a four) and Cameron Dennis, who hit a 16-ball 11 (one four).
The visitors duly got home on 118-4 after 18 overs, but credit must go to the B&K team who made the visitors battle for every run.
In terms of the home bowling effort, George Holding, with 2-21 from three overs, led the way while the other two wickets were snared by Neil Farley (1-12 from four) and Rory Dennis who took the new ball and finished with figures of 1-30 from four overs.
Young Bobby Marsh held two smart catches behind the wicket and the other pair of safe hands on the day were those of Stephen Ryan who held a catch to give Neil Farley his wicket.
