We wanted to express our gratitude to you for your continued support as a valued sponsor of our cricket club.
This year has been another positive season, with highs (and some lows) on and off the field. Whilst we didn’t quite replicate the silverware-laden season of 2022, we still managed to finish as runners-up in the Devon Premier League and fielded four senior sides for the first time in our history. Our Ladies and youth sections continued to grow and we hope to see all our sections going from strength to strength in 2024.
Your commitment and sponsorship have not only enabled us to continue to grow our senior ranks, but most importantly starting from the grassroots level, we have seen record numbers of juniors joining our All Stars and Dynamos programmes and taking up cricket. Hopefully, the future is bright with the addition of Andy Buzza as Head of Youth Cricket.
The impact of your support extends far beyond the boundary lines. We rely on generous individuals like you to be able to help us service and improve our facilities in what is an increasingly costly endeavour.
We continue to try to invest in the club ground equipment and remain grateful to our Groundsman, Peter Woodman at Kensham Park and Nigel Gillett at Rectory who do a wonderful job in making our facilities some of the best in the county, with what are limited resources compared to some of our rivals. Certainly, from a playing surface viewpoint, the results at Kensham Park speak for themselves with the ground league table showing we very marginally had the second-best wicket in the Premier Division and even that was a little contentious as we were penalised for bowling a side out for 27 at home which wasn’t a reflection on the wicket!
As we reflect on the triumphs and challenges of the past season, we are reminded that partnerships like yours are the backbone of our success. Your support has allowed us to continue to dream bigger, aim higher, and achieve milestones that once seemed distant for what is still essentially a small cricket club punching well above its weight.
Looking ahead, we are excited about the possibilities that next year holds. Once again, thank you for your generosity, commitment, and belief in the power of our club to make a positive impact on our community. We look forward to seeing you next year and creating more memories in the seasons to come.
Wishing you and your team continued success and a wonderful 2024.
With gratitude,
The Club Committee
