The Tolchards Devon Cricket League is into its final three weeks with 60 points up for grabs and both our men’s teams are part of very different ‘exciting-ends-to-the-campaign’!
The 1st XI are ‘very much’ part of the race for the ultimate prize – the Premier Division top honour. Indeed, in their final game, Gary Chappell and his men entertain the side that head the top flight table at the moment – Heathcoat!
With three games (60pts) left, there are just 17 points between leaders Heathcoat and fifth placed Cornwood with our team just ahead of Cornwood.
The top five placings are:
Heathcoat 221
North Devon 212
Sandford 212
BRADNINCH 207
Cornwood 204
The remaining games for the top five are:
Heathcoat (H Hatherleigh, H Sandford, A Bradninch)
North Devon (A North Devon, A Paignton, H Hatherleigh)
Sandford (A Plymouth, A Heathcoat, Cornwood)
BRADNINCH (H North Devon, A Plymouth, H Heathcoat)
Cornwood (A Paignton, H Bovey Tracey, A Sandford)
The 2nd XI are amongst a cluster of clubs battling to avoid dropping out of the E Division East alongside already relegated North Devon III.
Just THREE points separate the three teams at the bottom immediately above the basement side while SEVENTEEN points separate fourth placed Kentisbeare and second bottom Ottery, and, heading into this coming Saturday’s (August 29) game away at Ottery St Mary, the table placings – fourth to bottom are:
