The BCC Under-11s enjoyed a terrific contest with visiting Sandford on Monday night. As seems to be always the case with this team – a thoroughly enjoyable time was clearly had by all.
With a late cry-off owing to illness, the home team roped in eight-year-old Noah and what’s more, Noah covered himself in glory as he claimed his first hardball wicket, clean bowling a visiting player! Noah then donned the wicket keepers pads to free up Freya so that she could have a bowl.
Natalie Hunt, who is head of the BCC Colts says: “It was wonderful to see Noah playing – albeit it as an 8-year-old. We have pictures of a much younger Noah umpiring during the time we had the Argentinian lad Lautaro at the club and so it is quite something to behold to see that very same Noah now playing in the Under-10s and Under-11s.”
Nat continued: “It was another game when all our youngsters gave their all, doing themselves, and the club, proud. One area of the game that has shown real improvement this season is the bowling.
“The Kotting sisters were the best in terms of economy, keeping down the run rate – they also batted very well to get important runs.”
There were also wickets claimed by Jackson, Alice and Freya. When it came to the Bradninch batting, again the effort was there from one and all. There were some run-outs, but we must not lose sight of the fact that most of this Ninch side are actually at least one year younger than the age for U11 cricket – more practise in the art of running between the wickets will correct this!
Back to Natalie for the final word on another splendid outing for the team.
Nat says: “I must place on record my very sincere thanks to Vinny for helping me to look after the age group in the absence – for now – of a regular team manager.
“We must also say a huge thank you to Sandford for not just visiting us for the game, but for being such a lovely team to play against.”
