Bradninch Under-10s were in action on the second Sunday of June with a game at the splendid venue that is the County Ground, where the Ninch youngsters were taking on home side Exeter Under-10s.

The Bradninch side included three Under-8 players and, with the home side having 11 players for what is a standard ‘pairs’ match of ‘eight-players-per-side’, Exeter very sportingly ‘gave’ us some players to enable an even sided fixture could take place.

What transpired was a contest that saw all those involved have opportunities with both ball and bat.The entire Bradninch team all impressed, not only with bat in hand, but particularly with their running between the wickets.

Alas, the teams batting effort was not quite matched when they had ‘ball in hand’ and, with some less accurate bowling than had been served up by the hosts, Exeter were able to benefit from a large number of extras courtesy of plenty of wides.

That said, Logan bowled very well, keeping the ball good and straight and there were wickets for both Orson and Noah – both knocking over the stumps.

At the end of a very enjoyable contest, the scores were, Exeter 300 and Bradninch 225.

Last, but certainly not least, our thanks go the home club and, in particular their coach who really was a ‘fantastic’ host! One of the folk present commented: “It really was a fun, learning game for what was a very inexperienced Bradninch team.”
