A simply stunning 79-ball unbeaten 120 from Ankit Badwal and an unbeaten 36 from Dave Penberthy, guided Bradninch 2nd XI to a superb eight wicket win over hosts, Honiton 1st XI.
The home side batted first and made their way to a challenging total of 245-7 from 45 overs thanks to a fine 74 from opener Dave Haysom and supporting knocks of 52 from Ben Kennall and 62 from Kieran Conway.
Ankit Badwal and Chris Acton returned identical figures of 2-26 from nine overs while both Ryan Shrewsberry and Nick Acton each claimed a wicket while the other home wicket to fall was a run-out set up by an Ankit Badwal throw.When Bradninch began their run chase, openers Will Birley and Paul Nott put on 56 before Birley fell for a 45-ball 34 in which he hit five fours and a six.
Nott was joined by Aknit Badwal and they took the run chase into three figures until, with the score on 112, Nott fell for a 41-ball, five boundary 33.Badwal was joined by Dave Penberthy and the pair, with Badwal the dominant partner, scored superbly to ease the side to an eight wicket win with 10 overs and one ball remaining!When the win was confirmed, Badwal was not out 120 from just 79 balls faced, hitting 15 fours and thumping five sixes while Penberthy was not out 36, scored off 47 balls hitting four fours.
