1st XI suffer last over defeat in their home meeting with Cornwood.

After being out in, Bradninch lost Joshua Farley when the score was on 25, Farley trooping back with seven runs to his name and, when skipper Gary Chappell fell for a run-a-ball 18, the total was 30-2.

Ross Acton was joined by Dan Hardy and they added 50 for the third wicket which was that of Acton, out for a 33-ball twelve. Tim Piper joined Hardy, but, with the score on 103, Hardy became the fourth wicket to fall, in his case out for a 47-ball 43 – hitting eight fours.It was soon 114-5 with the loss of Thom Bunker for a 14-ball nine.

Eliot Acton joined Piper and the pair added 43 before Acton became the sixth wicket, bowled for a 50-ball 30.The home total was 157-6 with the loss of Eliot Acton and it was soon 176-7 with Tim Piper out for 57-ball two boundary 28. Just two runs were added before Darren Paul was dismissed for an 11-ball six and when Aryan Raigangar was out for a five-ball one, it was 184-9.

The final wicket was that of Craig Penberthy, bowled by the first delivery he faced and Bradninch were left all out for 184 in 43 overs.For Cornwood all but one of the six bowlers they used claimed at least one wicket with the best of the returns being the 3-36 from six overs sent down by Elliott Staddon, while Adam Goodliffe, Harry Woolway and Jay Bista, each claimed two wickets and there was one wicket for Jack Brown.

The Cornwood run chase was just five runs old when an Eliot Acton catch off Aryan Raigangar saw opener Jay Bistra sent back. There were 49 runs on the board when Ninch glovesman Darren Paul took a smart stumping off the bowling of Joshua Farley to leave Cornwood two down. The third wicket was snared with the score on 133, with skipper Gary Chappell clean bowling Elliott Staddon for a 58-ball 32.

That Chaps wicket came midway through the 40th over and so, at the end of that over, a further run was added leaving Cornwood needing 50 from the last 10 overs.A Dan Hardy catch off the bowling of Craig Penberthy left Cornwood on 154-5 and it was soon 160-6 with Robin Dart bowled first ball by Gary Chappell.When Matthew Skeemer was run out by a Dan Hardy throw for a 25-ball 14, Cornwood were 174-7 and they added one more run to be 175-7 after 48 overs, needing 10 to win off the last dozen deliveries.

Craig Penberthy sent down the penultimate over and that saw the Cornwood batsmen muster four singles and a four.That left Dan Hardy delivering the 50th and final over and Adam Goodliffe sent the second ball to the boundary to give his side a thrilling final over victory.

Goodliffe was not out six from five deliveries with George Thompson the other not out batsman with 15 runs to his name from 12 deliveries faced.Bradninch skipper Gary Chappell produced the best if his teams bowling returns with figures of 2-34 from 10 overs whilst the most economic of the Ninch bowlers proved to be Aryan Raigangar who sent his 10 overs down for just 28 runs.

There were single wickets for Dan Hardy, Josh Farley, Craig Penberthy and Aryan Raigangar.
