The curtain came down on a highly successful Bradninch & Kentisbeare CC season with the playing of the 2024 version of the Farley/Goff fixture that this year raised the quite magnificent sum of £350 for Dementia UK.

Befitting of such a great day, the outcome was in the balance right until the final act with the Norman Farley XI just edging home with the Dave Goff XI a very – indeed very – close second!

The Dave Goff XI batted first and scored a total of 203. Skipper Scott Chappell led from the front hitting his sides top score of 79 – scored off 72 balls. Liam Reed chipped in with a 48-ball unbeaten 58. Libby McCartney hit 21 and the other not out batter at the close in the innings was Faye Ross with three runs to her name.

In terms of the Norman Farley XI bowling effort, Ross Acton, George Holding and James Ford each claimed a pair of wickets while Jack Ford and John Farley both claimed a single wicket.

In what proved to be a successful run chase, the top score for the Norman Farley XI was a knock of fifty from Tom Percival while other runs came from Neil Farley, with an unbeaten 41; John Farley hit 25, Gary Farley scored18 and Ross Acton chipped in with 17.

Liam Reed completed a fine all-round shift by claiming three wickets while both Will Greig and Joe Gillett bagged a brace of wickets and there were single wickets for Phil Chappell and Faye Ross.
