Bradninch & Kentisbeare 2nd XI bagged a 19-point, eight wicket win when they made the short trip to Thorverton 2nd XI for a Tolchards Devon League D Division East contest.

There was one huge highlight from the contest and that was a magnificent 82-ball unbeaten 117 from SAM FRANKS who hit seventeen fours and two sixes.

Freddie Gillett scored a 43-ball nine boundary 51 before he was dismissed, but not before he and Franks had added a superb 134 for the second wicket after Morgan Lamey had been caught and bowled without troubling the scorers.

Connor Carthew was the other not out batsman at the close with nine runs to his name as he and Franks added 51 for the unbroken third wicket.

Earlier in the afternoon Thorverton, batting first, closed their 45 overs on185-8 thanks to a 59-ball, seven boundary 47 from Andrew Dandolph with the best of the support knocks being a 55-ball 29 from Paul Sterling and an unbeaten 21 (from 32 balls) scored by David Buckeridge.

Morgan Lamey took the bowling honours with a splendid return of 3-28 from a full compliment of nine overs and the other bowling returns were: Ankit Badwal (2-40 from nine), Sam Franks (1-22 from seven) and James Mills (1-22 from seven).

There was one run out during the home batting effort and that was because of a fine throw from Josh Stewart.

The team also held no fewer than six catches with Ankit Badwal holding two, skipper Will Greig took one as did Josh Stewart, Steve Paul and Tom Kittow.
